About the fund
The Cadet Mackenzie Wilson Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 to honor the life and legacy of Mackenzie Wilson, a 19-year-old Air Force ROTC cadet at Oregon State University (OSU) who tragically lost her life in a Humvee accident during a training event at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho on June 24, 2022.
Background
Mackenzie was known for her inquisitive, creative, and adventurous spirit. She excelled academically and was deeply committed to service, earning the prestigious Becker Excellence Award in OSU’s AFROTC Detachment 685, “The Flying Beavs”. Her passions extended beyond the classroom; she was an avid scuba diver, hiker, runner, and martial artist, and she actively participated in community service initiatives.
The scholarship was created to support future ROTC cadets who embody Mackenzie’s values of leadership, curiosity, and dedication to service. It serves as both a tribute to her memory and a commitment to fostering the development of compassionate and driven leaders.
