Scholarships for Current College Students

The Scholarship Application for the 2024-2025 Academic year will be open December 15th, 2023 – March 20th, 2024.

Non school-specific

The following scholarship is available for students studying at any accredited institution of higher education.

Corvallis Woman’s Club Scholarship

This scholarship is available to female graduates of a Benton County High School that will be in their Junior or Senior year of college. Their cumulative GPA must be above 3.0. Preference will be given to applicants engaged in an active role in their community through volunteerism, civic engagement, or “making things happen.”

The Tailwinds Fund

The Tailwinds Fund is especially for students seeking higher education who have experienced personal hardship as children and/or teens and who intend to use their education to provide services to or create or improve systems for people who have experienced similar adversity in their lives. who have endured and overcome traumatic experiences. They must also demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of at least a 2.0.

The Resilience Scholarship

The Resilience scholarship fund is especially for students who have endured and overcome traumatic experiences. They must also demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students who have attended residential treatment at the Children’s Farm Home or inpatient treatment at a similar facility.

For the purposes of this scholarship, “Traumatic Experiences” are defined as, but not limited to: actual or threatened physical or sexual violence; neglect; and incarceration or death of a parent or caregiver.

For students at Oregon State University

The following scholarships can only be paid to students attending Oregon State University.

Tom and Pat Gallagher Scholarship

The nominee for this scholarship is decided by OSU faculty/staff. Scholarship Criteria: Recipient must have graduated from a public high school located in Benton County, must attend OSU, and have a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Primary factors are applicant’s financial need and academic achievement. Athletics are not taken into account. Please direct any questions to the College of Liberal Arts Student Services Office at 541-737-0561. H. Wayne & Edna M. Schultz Scholarship

The nominee of this scholarship is suggested by the College of Pharmacy at OSU. During each Spring Term, students may complete an online application form which is reviewed by OSU/OHSU committee members. Criteria: Recipient must be a Benton County high school graduate with financial need. They can be a current or incoming professional student. Patricia McEwan Wilson Scholarship

This award is designed to assist a student Phi Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta who is in need of financial assistance for Chapter House living expenses while attending OSU. Criteria: Recipient is required to live in the Alpha Gamma Delta Phi Chapter House for the entire term or terms in which this scholarship is applied. This scholarship may help pay for room and board expenses or tuition as needed. Recipient must have a need for financial assistance. Charles and Elaine Mellen Sutherland College of Forestry Education Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who are enrolled in the College of Forestry at Oregon State University. To be eligible a student must be enrolled at Oregon State University and in the College of Forestry.  Preference will be given to minority students who are US Citizens and/or international graduate students.

Charles and Elaine Mellen Sutherland College of Public Health and Human Sciences Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who are enrolled in the College of Public Health and Human Scienes at Oregon State University. To be eligible a student must be enrolled at Oregon State University and in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences.  Preference will be given to minority students who are US Citizens and/or international graduate students.

OSU Opportunity Scholarships

The following scholarships require a specific ethnicity in order to qualify. Scholarships can only be paid to students attending Oregon State University.

William Harrison Gill Education Fund

Scholarship criteria: Recipient will be of Native American descent and must be an American citizen with a permanent or guardian residence in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington or Wyoming. This scholarship is renewable. Applicants must qualify for financial assistance as defined by the Financial Aid Office of OSU.

Kilbuck Family Native American Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Recipient will be a full-time undergraduate student at OSU with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above. Recipient will have at least a 1/16 enrolled or documented tribal affiliation. First preference will be given to graduates of Oregon or Alaska high schools. Scholarship is renewable for up to 12 terms if a 3.0 accumulative GPA is maintained.

David W. Schacht Native American Student Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Scholarship is available to students of Native American descent, defined as self-identified individuals with tribal affiliation. Recipient must have demonstrated ability and scholarship during high school or during previous college years. This scholarship is renewable. Applicants must qualify for financial assistance as defined by the Financial Aid Office of OSU.

Helen J. & Harold Gilman Smith Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Scholarship is available to Native American students with preference given to students graduating from an American Indian high school. Scholarship is available to students pursuing their first baccalaureate or a graduate degree in any field of study. Applicants should demonstrate a strong desire to pursue a post-secondary education and direction toward professional goals. A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required for undergraduate’s first year. Graduate students must maintain a minimum GPA level required by the enrolled college graduate degree program. Applicants must qualify for financial assistance as defined by the Financial Aid Office of OSU.

Joel R. Friend Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Scholarship is available to international students from Thailand, Taiwan (Republic of China) for attendance at OSU in any field of study. Applicants must qualify for financial assistance as defined by the Financial Aid Office of OSU.

Lucy Hsu Ho Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Scholarship is available to international students of ethnic Chinese descent. Primary preference in awarding the scholarship shall be given to those candidates who have demonstrated leadership in student and/or community activities and organizations, as well as the desire to serve others in the candidate’s future chosen field of work. Secondary preference shall be determined by level of financial need. Applicants may re-apply for this application each year. Applicants must qualify for financial assistance as defined by the Financial Aid Office of OSU.

Margaret Dowell-Gravatt, M.D. Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: This scholarship is to encourage and support ethnic minority undergraduate women enrolled in the College of Science or the College of Public Health and Human Sciences. Students will be enrolled full-time at the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level, have a GPA of 2.5 overall and 3.0 in science courses required in the major field or the Pre-Health curriculum in which the student is enrolled. Applicants must qualify for financial assistance as defined by the Financial Aid Office of OSU.

Hugh & Helen Wood Nepalese Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Scholarship is available to students who are current citizens of Nepal. Primary preference in awarding the scholarship shall be given to those candidates who agree to become a public servant in Nepal for at least five years following graduation. Students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Secondary consideration will be given to African American students if no Nepalese students meet the requirements.
