Scholarships for High School Graduates

The Scholarship Application for the 2024-2025 Academic year will be open December 15th, 2023 – March 20th, 2024.

Major Specific Scholarships

Ruth & Julian Adams Memorial Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school graduate studying journalism at an accredited institution of higher education.

David Bruce Belcher Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school student studying special education, nursing or physical therapy. Must have a desire for helping people with developmental disabilities.

Ethan’s Coffee Fund Scholarship

Ethan’s Coffee Fund scholarship is designated for graduating seniors from Benton County who are pursuing a four year degree in the field of science, technology, engineering, math, and/or philosophy, have a 3.5 minimum GPA, demonstrated financial need, and demonstrated probability to complete a four year degree demonstrated by students intelligence, wit, and excellence in extracurricular, sports, or leadership activities.

Robin V. Jensen Memorial Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school student pursuing a bachelor degree at an institution of higher education with an emphasis in Forensic Science or Criminal Justice. Must be active in sports and community service throughout high school and have a GPA of 3.0-3.5. Preference is given to Crescent Valley high school applicants. This scholarship is renewable.

Marjorie Rowett Sutherland Scholarship Fund

Awarded to a student planning to pursue a business degree. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients must be graduates of Corvallis High School or Crescent Valley High School.

Godfrey Music Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school graduate studying music at Oregon State University. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

High School Specific Scholarships

Monroe High School

Herb & Peggy Ballard Memorial Scholarship

Tuition and books for Monroe Union High School student continuing studies or training after high school. GPA must be 2.5 and above. Student must demonstrate financial need.

Jim Kohl “Give Me A Chance” Scholarship Fund

Tuition, books, and fees for a Monroe High School graduate who attended MHS throughout high school. Successful applicant will have minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and maximum of 3.0. Applicants with cumulative GPA below 2.0 will be considered if 2.50 G.P.A. or above is documented in the second semester of their junior year and the first semester of their senior year.  

Philomath High School

Harry & Lorraine Lagestee Scholarship

Tuition for a Philomath High School student with a cumulative grade point average at least 2.5 but not higher than 3.5 planning to attend LBCC or OSU.  Recipient must have participated in at least two sports during high school.

Louie Locke Athletic Scholarship Fund

Tuition for a Philomath High School student (must have attended for 3 years) who earned a varisity letter in Volleyball, Basketball or Football and have a 7th semester accumulated GPA of 3.33 or better.  Philomath High School staff selects recipient. Contact the PHS counselor for an application.

Scott Minter Memorial Cross-Country Scholarship

Tuition and books for Philomath High School graduate who was involved in cross-country to attend an accredited school, college or university. Contact the PHS counselor for an application.

Corvallis High School

John Callahan Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a Corvallis High School student who played on the soccer team and is planning to attend a two or four year institution. Preferred recipients demonstrate qualities of loyalty, compassion and humor. Preference given to a student who is the first family member to attend college.

Emily & Vic Logan Scholarship

Tuition for Corvallis High School graduate with a GPA of 3.3 or higher to study history, foreign affairs or the political process at an institution of higher education in Oregon. The recipient will have a proven record of school activities and participation in community service.

Corvallis or Crescent Valley High Schools

Coopey Boys’ Memorial Scholarship

Tuition, books and fees for a high school student from Corvallis or Crescent Valley who suffer from a physical handicap or serious chronic health problem.

John C. & Jeanne L. Mackey Endowed Scholarship

Tuition for a Corvallis or Crescent Valley High School graduate who plans to attend a public university in Oregon. Applicant must be a US citizen and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher with a proven record of activities and athletics.

Lebanon High School

Dave M. Gazeley Endowed Scholarship

Tuition for a Lebanon High School graduate who plans to attend Oregon State University and pursue a major or minor from the College of Business. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate financial need, and with a proven record of school or community service activities.

OSU Scholarships

John & Nancy Dennis Scholarship

Tuition for a Benton County high school student to study any field at Oregon State University.

Allen & Jean Peters Scholarship Fund

Tuition for a Benton County high school student to study in a health sciences related major at Oregon State University. 

Trade or Community College Scholarships

Otto J. & Adelia Hahn and Peter & Barbara Hutton Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school student pursuing a degree in the healthcare field such as nursing; a degree in mechanical or manual arts.

Ezekiel Hennessey Mitchel Scholarship

The Ezekiel Hennessey Mitchel Memorial Scholarship is designated for graduating high school seniors from Benton, Polk, Lincoln, and Linn Counties pursuing careers in vocations such as, home building trades, tile setting, carpentry, general contracting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, and other trades defined by BCF, and/or Students studying entrepreneurship and/or small business development at an accredited community college. Students must attain certificates or degrees from accredited trade schools, technical schools, or community colleges. Preferred candidates will have a GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and have demonstrated excellence in extracurricular activities, community service, or leadership activities while in high school. Preference given to graduates of alternative high schools.

Knights of Pythias Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school student to attend a vocational educational program. (For example, mechanic, carpenter, beautician, or dental assistant.) This scholarship is renewable if recipient has made satisfactory progress toward completion of the student’s course with a GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Loren J. Smith & Audrey W. Smith Scholarship Fund

Tuition for students with financial need to attend Linn-Benton Community College. This scholarship is renewable.

Scholarships with General Criteria

Blodgett Summit Community Club Bill Ayers Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who attended Blodgett Elementary School and/or resided within the Blodgett-Summit Community as defined by the Philomath School district map for at least one year.

The Tailwinds Fund

The Tailwinds Fund is especially for students seeking higher education who have experienced personal hardship as children and/or teens and who intend to use their education to provide services to or create or improve systems for people who have experienced similar adversity in their lives. who have endured and overcome traumatic experiences. They must also demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of at least a 2.0.

The Resilience Scholarship

The Resilience scholarship fund is especially for students who have endured and overcome traumatic experiences. They must also demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students who have attended residential treatment at the Children’s Farm Home or inpatient treatment at a similar facility.

For the purposes of this scholarship, “Traumatic Experiences” are defined as, but not limited to: actual or threatened physical or sexual violence; neglect; and incarceration or death of a parent or caregiver.

Masonic Lodge Scholarship 

Awarded to a student to encourage their continuation post high school. Can be used to continue their education at a two or four year public institution or complete vocational training. Financial need or other factors that might make a student at risk of not continuing their education are taken into consideration.

Marys River Lodge No 221 William E. McCoy Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors from Benton County pursuing careers in physical sciences or engineering. Must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated excellence in extracurricular activities, community service, or leadership activities while in high school. Students must enroll no later than fall term in a public community college, college, or university in Oregon.

Peter and Ellen Ogle Scholarship

The Peter and Ellen Ogle Scholarship is for students who are of Latino/Hispanic ethnicity and the first generation in their immediate family to attend a postsecondary educational institution.

Dale & Thomasina Trout Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school student in the upper half of class to study at an institution of higher education. Financial need is not a consideration.  Applicant must have a proven record of activities or athletics. This scholarship is renewable. Preference is given to students not likely to receive other scholarships.

Maybelle Game Carlson Scholarship

Tuition for Benton County high school student who demonstrates financial need.

Roberts Family Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors from Benton County pursuing careers in physical sciences, engineering, business, or health care. Must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated excellence in extracurricular activities, community service, or leadership activities while in high school. Students must demonstrate the ability to stay the course in times of hardship or stress. Financial need a requirement. Scholarship is renewable.

Glenn G. Shephard Memorial Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors from Benton County or students beginning and/or continuing their education at OSU or LBCC. Applicants must be pursuing careers in engineering, business, robotics, or computer science. Must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated excellence in extracurricular activities, community service, or leadership activities while in high school. Students must demonstrate the ability to stay the course in times of hardship or stress. Financial need a requirement.

Note: Graduating high school seniors who meet the eligibility requirements can apply for: OSU Opportunity Native American Scholarships, Sutherland College of Forestry Scholarship or the Sutherland College of Public Health and Human Services Scholarship.
