“A little bit of magic came to our school and community during the week of Veterans Day, delivered by the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) Red Truck Tour. Two young artist‑directors arrived in their signature red truck—packed with costumes, props, and boundless enthusiasm—to guide our students through the remarkable process of producing a full musical in just five days. By the end of the week, 36 students and their directors had transformed from strangers into a cohesive cast, performing an inspired and original rendition of Little Red Riding Hood with the support of a talented young guest accompanist. The joy in the room was unmistakable. Alsea students sang and danced with heart, humor, and a genuine can‑do spirit that brought the story to life and clearly delighted everyone present.
Because rehearsals were held during the school day, even students who live outside the community were able to participate. Home‑schooled students were welcomed to audition as well, and several joined the cast. Families played a crucial role—helping students practice lines at home and dedicating most of their Saturday to dress rehearsal and the final performance. The high school art class contributed too, designing the printed program, which featured a beautiful linoleum block print created by one of our art students.”
