About the fund
The Jim and Ruth Howland Fund supports public art and the annual Howland Community Open Show—a place where all local artists can display their work. Established through their generosity, today it serves to honor their memory and commemorate their support of the arts.
Jim and Ruth Howland were strong supporters of the arts in Corvallis. Jim was one of the founders of CH2M-Hill, an international engineering firm. In the early 60s, he made one of the first substantial contributions to help establish the Corvallis Arts Council.
Their involvement in the local arts scene grew over the next 40 years. The couple opened Pegasus Framing and Gallery, and they were active members of the Madison Avenue Task force, connecting OSU to downtown.
