About their funds
Already BCF supporters, in the fall of 2021, Jim & Cheryl Jordan sat down with BCF staff to discuss their legacy and create a new donor advised fund. “Well, we have no children, so our Christmas gift was to give these donations. And it was quite fun,” said Cheryl.
“I really enjoyed serving as a BCF board member and after my service ended, we thought, how can we get more involved in the community?” reflected Jim. “My Dad started giving before he passed away and you could really see the joy that he experienced. It made us think about the impact we can make now.”
The following are the Jordans existing BCF funds:
- James S. & Cheryl L. Jordan Donor Advised Fund
- James S. & Cheryl L. Jordan Capital Fund
- James S. & Cheryl L. Jordan Legacy Society Fund
- James S. & Cheryl L. Jordan Sustainability Fund

Why Give?
The Jordans are longtime, active members of the Benton County community, Jim as a business owner in Philomath, and Cheryl as a retired professor from OSU. “Benton County is a wonderful place to live, and we would like our giving to continue that. I want to give back to the community that supported me over the years”, said Cheryl. As longstanding supporters of the work being done at BCF, the Jordans knew where to go to get the support they needed in making their philanthropic goals a reality.
When Jim and Cheryl partnered with BCF, the team worked with the Jordans to uncover new opportunities for giving. “We really appreciated the work that BCF staff did with us. It got us thinking about causes and organizations that we hadn’t thought about giving to before,” shared Cheryl.
“That’s why we partnered with The Benton Community Foundation,” said Jim. “The time to give is now so you can see the good work your giving will do. This will be our legacy.”
