Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Corvallis

Details:

With support from the Benton Community Foundation (BCF), the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Corvallis (UUFC) held its first summer camp for youth since well before COVID times on July 31 – Aug 4, 2023.

Each day, campers received a meal, 3 snacks, and outside recreation time with organized games between lessons.  The children explored several forms of art utilizing primarily recycled and renewable resources. They made their own paper and botanical inks from table scraps, both for use in lessons in bookbinding, abstract botanical art, and card making. Mosaics were made from reclaimed tiles, and clay plaques and magnets were created with impressions from natural elements found in their local environment. The camp culminated in lessons in art as a business with campers writing their artist bios and hosting an art show that was open to the public. Campers selected pieces to sell to raise money for a local animal shelter. The camp was a great success on all counts.

Our thanks to the Benton Community Foundation for its generous support of projects like ours that build the skills, knowledge and self-confidence of the next generation of Oregonians.
